Welcome to the Initial Reception Facility of the Free State of Thuringia in Suhl

How long will you stay in the Inital Reception Facility (EAE) in Suhl?

You will spend around six weeks here, depending on your medical examination and state of health. In some cases you may end up staying for longer. But don’t worry, be patient and speak to the social workers of the Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB). They will let you know when you are to be moved to where you will be living.

Who decides who goes where?

The decision about the place and date of the transfer is made by the Thuringia authorities.

They will always try to take your specific circumstances into account (“case-by-case decision-making”).

This means that staff will try to take factors such as your nationality, religion, family circumstances, capacities in the district and the size of available apartments or rooms into account.

If you wish to be reunited with your family already living in Thuringia, you will need to provide evidence of your family ties. This means that a family member, a wife or a husband must be living at the place where you want to live.

The ASB social worker will let you know as quickly as possible when and where you will be transferred.

You will also be told whether you will be taken by bus with other people or whether you will receive tickets for public transportation.

Please note:

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the process of finding you a place to be transferred to may not be straightforward.

This means that in some cases, you may first be sent to a different location belonging to the “Asylum Registration and Reception Centre”.
